Want Your House on TV? HGTV’s “Get It Sold” is Looking for Home Owners in Northern Virginia

Home and Garden Television (HGTV) is looking for homes – and home owners – in the Northern Virginia area to take part in the sixth season of Get It Sold.

Get It Sold helps people who haven’t been able to sell their house in the current market. Top real estate experts explain why buyers aren’t biting, and a staging expert suggests simple fixes to get the home ready for the open house. A listing agent provides a close look at the competition through tours of other comparable homes in the area. Once the staging makeover is complete, it’s time for the open house to get the house sold.

HGTV doesn’t guarantee a sale, but they can definitely improve your odds. To see an episode, tune into HGTV on Wednesdays at 8:30 pm or Sundays at 11:30 am to watch the show or visit the website at www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hsold.

If you meet the following criteria, you might be just be what HGTV is looking for:

Do you help home owners who live in Indiana? We are in a situation where we need to relocate due to my husbands job. Our home needs cosmetic work. I can share more if you would like me too. Just thought I’d check to see if you could help us. Thanks, Mrs. Lora Meadows

I know this is from last year, but i’ve been looking around for different opportunities to help my mother. My parents had bought a beautiful 2 story 5 bed, 4 bath, 2 car garage house in Chesapeake, VA about 7 years ago. My father always took care most of the bills and at 41 died of congested heart failure last June. I am married and moved out of the house, but I still try to help my mother as much as possible. She is a RN and works constantly to provide for my 12 and 11 year old brother and sister. The bank has been helping her out, but only for a year so at the end of the month she will not be having anymore help. She wants to desperately sell, but the only advisors she has had tells her she needs to file for bankruptcy. She doesn’t want to do this and everytime she goes to even have it looked at something happens. Last December I fell through the attic into my brother’s bathroom trying to get Christmas decorations down, a month later the hot water heater ruptured, which was in the attic and ran all the way down to the first floor. Paint needs to be touched up, the sink leaks, and the built in microwave’s handle has broken off. The house is gorgeous except for these faults. She barely makes enough to even get my brother and sister a Christmas this year. All of our family lives at least 8 hours away and there hasn’t been much help around since my dad passed away. I’d really like to help her. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thank you.

What if I’m selling a condo in Alexandria, VA? Is there an opportunity coming up for which I could apply? I think it would be a good episode – garden condo, new development in the area. We are incredibly outgoing and open to criticism and change. We’re upside down on the mortgage so we need every bit of help to get a good appraisal value. Looking to get it ready for sale and have a LOT of small projects to conquer first: new under sink cabinet, countertops, window treatments, flooring, paint, just to start. HELP!

I’ve had my parents house on the market since May 1st. The entire exterior has been repainted and bad trim replaced and it also has a brand new roof. I’ve dropped the price, but people still comment that the kitchen & baths are outdated and I don’t have the money to fix those issues. The house is located in the Virginia Hunt Country. Can you help?

  17. Michael Bergin

Just so you know, we don’t have any direct connection to HGTV, this post was simply a courtesy. I suggest you contact HGTV directly. Good luck.

My brother’s wife died unexpectedly in May. He owns a house in Middletown, Ohio and needs to sell it before he can come back to be with his family in Kentucky. Middletown has lost a lot of industry and therefore the housing market is flooded so the house will have to be perfect in order to sell in this market. My brother’s house is a three bedroom, brick ranch with a partially finished basement. It was built circa 1960 and is good structurally but needs updated decor. He really needs help in getting his house ready for sale. I think this case would make for an excellent episode of “Get It Sold” and would be so much appreciated. If you need his name it is Jesse R. Bowlin.
