Alexandria and Northern Virginia Real Estate Market Reports for December 2009

The Alexandria and Northern Virginia real estate market reports for December 2009 were released today.
Here’s a quick snap shot for Alexandria City:
- average list price is up over Nov. 09 and Dec. 08
- average sales price is up over Nov. 09 and Dec. 08
- average days on the market has decreased from Nov. 09 and Dec. 08
- number of properties sold is down from Nov. 09 and Dec. 08
- but December year to date sales are up 7.3 percent over last year.
It is conceivable that the unexpected December snow and frigid temperatures warded off some buyers, especially since Sept., Oct., and Nov., were trending upward as we moved towards 2010.
