Late Fall Flowers at Christ Church Alexandria

It was a beautiful fall day – crisp, clear and perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in the courtyard after church. This late blooming azalea was a welcome companion, as were the Japanese anemones.

Add good friends, glorious music and liturgy, children running across the lawn, leaves beginning to turn – I’m not sure if it was the perfect end to a good week or the perfect beginning to a good week. Either way, it’s working for me . . . .

Although not a historic home, this private residence on St. Asaph in Old Town Alexandria is one of my very favorites.

Always immaculately “groomed”, the proportions, the landscaping and the eye for detail make this a perfect example of classic Old Town Alexandria architecture.
